Phyllis and Connie Get Married
Sealing their wedding vows with a kiss shortly after 9 a.m., Chelsea residents Phyllis Siegal, 76, and Connie Kopelov, 84, seen above, became the first same-sex couple to be legally married by City Clerk Michael McSweeney in his Lower Manhattan office.
Siegal and Kopelov have been a couple for 23 years, but today is the first day that New York State has allowed the two women to get married.
If there’s anything abominable about marriage equality for gay people, it’s that these two women had to wait 23 years to get married. The time for debate is over. If you still can’t get behind the rights of your gay friends and family to enjoy the same rights you do, there’s simply something wrong with your heart.

Probably one of the more brilliant ideas I’ve spent twenty bucks on lately. Reef One makes this magnetic algae cleaner for the BiOrb, but I imagine it would work on most fishbowls. Scrapes off the film on the inside without getting your hands (and desk) all wet. As a bonus, it totally freaks out your fish.

Yesterday, my Automattic colleague Joseph Scott launched the VideoPress Plugin for WordPress.org, meaning anyone with a self-hosted WordPress blog can now use VideoPress and their WordPress.com account for high-quality ad-free video right on their self-hosted WordPress blog. :)
